Shopping On a Budget

As trivial as it is, part of preparing for my mission is shopping. I need to create a wardrobe that's full of modest, professional, and durable church clothing. Of course I own lots of church clothing already but a lot of it, for various reasons, just isn't suitable for my mission to Idaho. With a tight budget and a lot of items to buy, that's where thrift stores come in. On a random note, I saw a tank top on Pinterest that said "I shopped at thrift stores before Macklemore made it cool. Not because I'm a hipster, but because I'm poor." I wanted to buy it so bad, but it didn't have sleeves and was ridiculously priced. Back to what I was saying though. Thrift stores are amazing, and with patience you can find some awesome clothing at a bargain. And for someone like me who is paying for the majority of their mission themselves, a bargain is something I love. I got this red skirt from Goodwill for under five dollars and these coats for just twelve dollars each. Judging from the coat brands, they were each probably over a hundred dollars new.

Amelia is 6 Months!

Last week my niece Amelia turned six months old! Time is flying by so quickly! My sister Brittany asked me if I would take a few pictures of her. Now by no means am I a photographer, but I do own a halfway decent camera that I like to play around on. Amelia was NOT happy about our little photo shoot as you can tell but I finally got one shot where she was smiling.

I Made a Blog!

For a while I have been thinking about making a blog for my mission and finally today, I went ahead and did it.
Let's start with some of the basics. My name is Heather. I am 20 years old and was recently called to serve in the Idaho Boise Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I report to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) on July 17th, 2013. That's just a little over two months away! I feel like there is so much to do, so much that I haven't learned yet! I'll be posting on here about how my preparations are going and then I'll have someone update my blog about how the work is going in the mission.
